South Korean cellist Jaemin Han plays Poulenc’s Les Chemins de l’amour. This piece started out as a lyrical waltz-song, all about love and loss, that formed part of the incidental music for Jean Anouilh’s play Léocadia in 1940. Often said to be the instrument that sounds most like the human voice, the cello here takes the vocal line and sings a beautiful song without words. Jaemin Han is accompanied by pianist Jonathan Ware in a performance of irresistible charm.
