Víkingur Ólafsson continues his exploration of Bach’s music with his latest single release, a piano interpretation of the composer’s chorale prelude “Das alte Jahr vergangen ist, BWV 614”. Ólafsson performs the piece together with his wife in an arrangement for four hands by legendary Hungarian composer György Kurtág. Ólafsson’s readings of Bach’s works have been critically acclaimed as intensely emotional and intelligently paced, and characterized by immaculate technique and organic phrasing. This is the fourth of six Bach tracks in the series that will be released together as an EP on 18 October.
