Violinist Renaud Capuçon releases his new album that presents a compendium of works by Richard Strauss, a composer who has been central to his artistic trajectory since long before adulthood. Spanning rather neglected, recently recorded gems, this release also draws upon superb concerts from the distant past. Recorded with a stunning array of collaborators, the album features many chamber works, performances of Strauss' Piano Quartet and Violin Sonata, a new recording of the youthful Violin Concerto as well as the Daphne-Etude for solo violin, string ensemble arrangements of Metamorphosen and the introduction to Capriccio, followed by a climactic rendition of Ein Heldenleben.
