Violinist Renaud Capuçon’s upcoming album presents a compendium of works by Richard Strauss, a composer who has been central to his artistic trajectory since long before adulthood. Spanning rather neglected, recently-recorded gems, this release also draws upon superb concerts from the distant past. Weaving in many chamber works, the album features performances of Strauss' Piano Quartet and Violin Sonata, recorded with a stunning array of collaborators.
Listen to a second pre-release track, the slow, moving and slightly melancholy second movement of Strauss’s seldom performed Violin Concerto in D Minor. The full album will be released digitally and on CD on 31 January and is now available for pre-order.
