JOHN WILLIAMS

Iconic Hollywood composer John Williams conducts the equally legendary Wiener Philharmoniker in a fanfare he wrote especially for a tour of Japan with the Boston Pops Orchestra in 1993. Fascinated by the huge bells found in Japanese temples, Williams used them as inspiration for his use of percussion in Sound the Bells!, without trying to imitate their sound. The work was originally composed for brass and percussion and orchestrated by the composer at a later date.
