The young German pianist Julius Asal releases his debut album on DG on 3 May, featuring works by Scarlatti and Scriabin. Combining two composers who are rarely mentioned in one breath, the album creates a dreamlike meditation in which the boundaries between pieces, eras and states of mind fade away. “Even seemingly different materials from different times and with different densities can merge,” comments Asal on his innovatively curated programme, that is linked by a pair of improvisatory Transitions.
A multi-track single with Scriabin’s Prélude in C Minor and an Upright piano version of Scarlatti’s Sonata in F Minor is now available as a first impression of the new album.
