This release is the second and final part of Yannick Nézet-Séguin and The Philadelphia Orchestra’s survey of Rachmaninoff’s symphonic works. Nézet-Séguin conducts his “Fabulous Philadelphians” in the Second and Third Symphonies and the symphonic poem Isle of the Dead. Like the first instalment of 2021 – an acclaimed recording of Symphony No. 1 and the Symphonic Dances – and their work with Daniil Trifonov, this album continues to build on the orchestra’s incomparable Rachmaninoff legacy.
