Canadian conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin’s latest album Johannes Brahms: The Symphonies is released today. For over a decade, Nézet-Séguin and the Chamber Orchestra of Europe (COE) have been reunited each summer in the German spa town of Baden-Baden. In 2021, their meeting resulted in a well-received complete Beethoven symphony cycle, which was released by DG in 2022. In the summer of 2022 Nézet-Séguin became the artistic director of the Festspielhaus’s new La Capitale d’Été festival and during that and the next year’s residencies, the COE and the conductor turned their attention to Brahms by performing and recording all four of the latter’s symphonies. The performances, which were euphorically received, are now available digitally and as a 3-DC set.
