This album features the elegant overtures of Polish romantic composer Stanisław Moniuszko. As the father of Polish national opera, he drew on folkloristic elements like his compatriot Chopin, whose influence he did not deny, and we encounter waltzes, mazurkas, and polonaises in his exuberant orchestral pieces. The orchestral works have been recorded by the Crakow Philharmonic Orchestra under Roland Bader.
This album is one of a fourth and final batch of albums from the Koch Schwann catalogue to be released digitally for the first time. For a first impression, the recording of the ouverture taken from the comic opera “Verbum Nobile” is now available.
