Daniel Hope
With his album Dance! the violinist Daniel Hope presents a collection of music associated with movement and dance. The repertoire spans seven centuries with a variety of compositions by Purcell, Mozart, Florence Price and Duke Ellington, among many others. The album reflects music intended to entertain monarchs as well as music with ritualistic elements to ward off evil spirits and all are connected through the rhythms, that have set bodies in motion since time began. “The great thing about dance is that if you get together with others in one room, you’ll all most likely feel the rhythm at the same time and, eventually, move together.” (Hope)
