Bach: The Art of Life

Daniil Trifonov’s album Bach: The Art of Life explores the scientific, emotional and spiritual dimensions of Johann Sebastian Bach’s cosmos. Centred around Bach’s late, mystical masterpiece, The Art of Fugue, Trifonov’s project investigates the man behind the myth – a genius of humility and humour, whose family, loves, losses, and devotion inspired what the pianist calls “some of humanity’s most emotionally rich and fascinatingly sophisticated expressions in music”. 
 
The Deluxe Edition of the album partners the original CD audio recording with a Blu-ray disc featuring the acclaimed live performance Trifonov gave of Bach’s Art of Fugue and other works at the Berlin Philharmonie in October 2021. “Star pianist plays monumental keyboard work,” wrote RBB Kultur after the recital. “Not a single wish is left unfulfilled by his interpretation.”
