The acclaimed Icelandic composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist Snorri Hallgr&iacute;msson releases his debut on DG with the EP Longer shadows, softer stones. Following several collaborations with DG in recent years, Hallgr&iacute;msson has now produced six original thought-provoking tracks in this release that aim to transform listeners&rsquo; disillusion with the darkness of the world and encourage them to travel with hope instead. &nbsp;
&ldquo;The older I get and the more I learn &ndash; the more I understand this immense feeling of disillusion that I&rsquo;ve always felt&rdquo;, he notes. &ldquo;We often associate melancholic music with depression, but to me depression is what happens when we go down the spiral of escapism to ignore the discomfort. I am at my absolute happiest when I can sit, live and breathe with the disillusion and use it to fuel my creativity.&rdquo;&nbsp;
Hallgr&iacute;msson grew up in a musical family, trained as a classical guitarist and also studied composition at the Iceland Academy of Arts and Berklee College of Music. He then began to write his own pieces, creating soundworlds of subtle beauty and hopefulness that are often characterized by an atmospheric vibe.&nbsp;
