JAN DISMAS ZELENKA

Recording on our partner label Carus, conductor Frieder Bernius together with the Barockorchester- and Kammerchor Stuttgart announce their upcoming album featuring Zelenka’s festive Missa Gratias agimus tibi of 1730, scored for trumpets and timpani. Having discovered the Czech composer early in his career, Bernius has been a regular interpreter of Zelenka’s music and together with the musicians expertly illustrates Zelenka’s ingenuity and technical mastery. Beautiful choruses, splendid tuttis, delightful and exciting arias, duets and ensemble vocal parts are ingeniously combined and juxtaposed with the playing of the instrumental virtuosi.
