TRÈS LENT

This audio single, as part of our Project XII series, is a re-work of the third movement of Ravel’s String Quartet in F major. Leon Weber tells how he came to choose this track: “I was captivated by Ravel even as a child – I loved listening to his music and playing it on the cello. The String Quartet in F major is such a special work. Every time I hear it, it conjures up amazing images and fantasy worlds. When I decided to rework the Quartet’s third movement (Très lent) on my electronic instruments, I was completely guided by these fantasy images.” 

“For me, the magical thing about chamber music has always been the intimate communication between the performers, and that’s why this rework is based on free dynamics and a constant interplay of acoustic and electronic sounds.”
