“His integrity and musicianship were among the wonders of 20th-century recreative artistry and energy” (Gramophone)
Rudolf Serkin’s relationship with DG came late in his career but yielded three major recording projects – 15 Mozart piano concertos with Claudio Abbado, Beethoven’s last three piano sonatas, and his only recording with Mstislav Rostropovich (Brahms’ cello sonatas – also Rostropovich’s only recording of these pieces). Serkin’s complete recordings for the Yellow Label are now collected together for the first time in a 9-CD edition with original jackets and a 28-page booklet and on a digital set.
