Ferenc Fricsay died at the age of just 48. Although his career as a recording artist lasted barely 12 years, he is considered a legend – a conductor of both personal warmth and exacting musicality. Between 1949 and 1961, Fricsay made a wealth of records for Deutsche Grammophon. For the first time, these have been gathered together into one magnificent box set, comprising 86 CDs and a bonus DVD.
Aligned with the physical release of DG’s Complete Ferenc Fricsay recordings, four albums will be available in the digital supply chain for the first time. Listen to the first pre-release track ‘J. Strauss II: Die Fledermaus: Overture’ via the streaming tab above.
