»I’ve always been fascinated by the ideas, colours and emotions to be found in Ravel’s music, and it has been an honour to record his complete solo piano works and concertos.« Seong-Jin Cho
Korean pianist Seong-Jin Cho releases a pre-release track of his upcoming album entitled Ravel: The Piano Concertos, the second of two installments that the pianist has prepared for the 150th anniversary of the birth of Ravel. After the recent release of the first album that focused on the French composer’s solo piano works, this second album contains his two piano concertos, for which he is joined by the Boston Symphony Orchestra and its music director Andris Nelsons. “Performing with the BSO, you feel like the French spirit is in their blood – it was so inspiring to play and record with them, and of course working with Andris is always a real joy,” says Cho.
Listen to a pre-release track, the slow and soft second movement of Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G Major, M. 83. The full album will be released digitally as well as on CD on 21 February, with a vinyl version to follow at a later date.
