“This new account boasts the finest Tosca cast of the digital era and is a recording I’ll be returning to often in years to come.” (Gramophone Magazine | Recording of the Month)
The Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia under Musical Director Daniel Harding together with Chilean-American tenor Jonathan Tetelman release their new album, on which they are joined by an array of performers to present Puccini’s operatic thriller Tosca.
This concert performance not only commemorates the Puccini anniversary but also marks the official debut of Harding as the orchestra’s new Music Director, conducting his first ever performances of the tragic opera.
With an all-star cast on board, led by star tenor Jonathan Tetelman and soprano Eleonora Buratto as ill-fated lovers, their presentation of Tosca made a fitting tribute to Puccini in the year of the centenary of his death. They were joined amongst others by Ludovic Tézier as Baron Scarpia. With such experienced performers conjuring the drama of an opera in a concert performance, highlighting the slightest vocal and orchestral nuances – every detail of Puccini’s wonderful writing can be heard.
