JOE HISAISHI

The legendary Japanese composer, conductor and pianist Joe Hisaishi announces his upcoming album Mládí, for which he combines three scores that he wrote for different movies by actor-director Takeshi Kitano. The works were newly arranged by Hisaishi and have been recorded as part of a hugely successful collaboration with the Wiener Symphoniker. Written for piano and strings, the album sees Hisaishi take on the soloist’s role, directing the players of the Symphoniker from the keyboard. 

Listen to a first pre-release track, a happy and energetic piece entitled Summer that is taken from the road movie “Kikujiro” from 1999. The full album will be released digitally and on vinyl on 6 December to celebrate Hisaishi’s 74th birthday, and is now available for pre-order.
