Elena Kats-Chernin continues our Project XII for the last time this year with Lillian’s Aria. The Australian composer based in Sydney has written works in nearly every genre, including music for dance, opera and silent film as well as documentaries. Her music was featured at the opening ceremonies of both the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games and the 2003 Rugby World Cup, and recent albums of her compositions have enjoyed impressive reviews and popular success.
“Lillian’s Aria was commissioned by Dr Mal Eutick in memory of his mother Lillian who was a florist. While writing this piece I was inspired by the image of this strong woman tending to her beautiful flowers.”
