Whether performing as principal harpist of the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks, or creating absurd sketches, German harpist Magdalena Hoffmann is above all a supremely gifted communicator. “The harp has always been the poet’s and the storyteller’s instrument,” she notes, “It’s a wonderful vessel for adventures of the imagination.”
Her ability to tell stories is shown in her new single performing Fred Hersch’s Three Character Studies: I. Nocturne for Left Hand Alone, released today, 1 October 2021.
