Domenico Scarlatti (1685–1757) wrote no fewer than 555 keyboard sonatas full of inventive ideas. He spent many years in Spain, and may have been influenced by the sound of the guitars he heard there. Raphaël Feuillâtre performs the Sonata K. 208 in an arrangement for guitar, skilfully playing with the sonata’s rhythms and phrasing, bringing out the full expressive potential of Scarlatti’s beautiful melodies.
