Reinhard Goebel was one of the pioneers of the re-discovery of performance on period instruments and focused on re-discovering the music of under-performed 17th and 18th century composers. We look forward to Goebel’s coming 70th birthday (July 29) with a pre-release track from Louis-Nicolas Clérambault, a French contemporary of Bach. Listen to the upbeat aria “Chantez la victoire” for soprano with small chamber ensemble led by Goebel on the violin from Clérambault’s Cantata ‘Orphée’.
