AND FOREVER

The London-based composer Angus Macrae is the latest to create music for “XII”. And Forever is inspired by the bittersweet feeling of a fleeting connection between two individuals, coming together in friendship, before drifting apart. “I was particularly drawn to the idea that we as listeners approach the music from afar, entwining with it briefly, before drifting away, leaving the music to continue, ad infinitum.”, says the composer and pianist. The piece begins with a hazy piano motif, warped almost beyond recognition, before a more present piano takes hold of the music. Additional woodwinds and strings bring an understated momentum before falling away, leaving just the opening piano motif, disappearing back into the distance, hanging on the wind.
