Jan Lisiecki
Preludes by
Chopin · Bach · Rachmaninoff
Messiaen · Górecki
Canadian star pianist Jan Lisiecki releases his new album, focussing on the kaleidoscopic world of the prelude. Lisiecki himself refers to how he is seeking “to showcase the broad possibilities of the humble Prelude” that takes “the audience on a musical expedition”. For this, he contrasts Chopin’s iconic Op. 28 cycle with preludes by other composers, such as Bach, Messiaen, Rachmaninoff and Górecki. Skillfully highlighting these connections and contrasts, Lisiecki reveals how the genre developed over three centuries.
The album is released digitally as well as on CD and vinyl.
