Sir John Eliot Gardiner - Complete Recordings on Archiv Produktion and DG

We announce the upcoming release of Sir John Eliot Gardiner’s box set of his complete recordings for Archiv Produktion and DG. The edition features performances from the plethora of ensembles that Gardiner founded, including The Monteverdi Choir, the English Baroque Soloists and the Orchestre Révolutionnaire et Romantique. It features soloists, such as Anne Sofie von Otter, Bryn Terfel and many more.

On top of that, DG is reissuing Gardiner’s first recording of the Bach St Matthew Passion released in 1989 which was a milestone in style and interpretation and remains so to this day. The 3-CD set is replaced by a 2-CD brilliant box and it includes a 16-page booklet with original liner notes by Sir John Eliot Gardiner himself.

We also look forward to Easter, where Sir John Eliot Gardiner will conduct the Monteverdi Choir and the English Baroque Soloists in a production of J.S. Bach’s St John Passion from the historic Sheldonian Theatre in Oxford, the performance will be streamed live on DG Stage on 2 April 2021.

The reissue of Bach’s St Matthew Passion is released today, 19 March 2021, and the Complete Recordings on Archiv Produktion and DG is set for release on 21 May 2021.
