Reissued: Giuseppe Sinopoli's Verdi: Nabucco

Giuseppe Sinopoli remains, twenty years after his death an enigmatic figure.  Recognised for his keen ear for orchestral colour, his powerful intellect and emotional engagement, his performances and recordings offer luminous textures and deep insight and are marked by intelligent phrasing and focused articulation. In 1978, a performance of Verdi’s Aida spring-boarded his mainstream operatic career. Three decades after his untimely death, and in what would have been his 75th year, DG celebrates the Italian conductor and polymath with a reissue of his acclaimed 1983 recording of the same composer’s Babylonian epic, Nabucco. The cast includes Ghena Dimitrova, Piero Cappuccilli and the chorus of the Deutsche Oper Berlin.
