SOMETIMES I FEEL LIKE A MOTHERLESS CHILD

French soprano Axelle Fanyo sings a traditional spiritual in the version created for voice and piano by the celebrated pianist, conductor and arranger Moses Hogan. She uses her storytelling ability to communicate the powerful sense of grief and yearning behind the lyrics, especially on the words “a long ways from home”. She’s accompanied with clarity and sensitivity by the equally talented collaborative pianist Kunal Lahiry.
