“Irish Roots” embodies Hope’s deep connection to Ireland and its culture, which he inherited from his paternal great-grandfather who left Waterford for South Africa in the 1890s. It explores the intersection of folk and classical music with the support of guest artists, including Lúnasa, harpist Siobhán Armstrong, flautists Sir James and Lady Jeanne Galway, singer Rea Garvey, multi-instrumentalist and folk musician Ross Daly, fellow violinist Simos Papanas, and the Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra conducted by Daniel Geiss. The album is set for release on 5 July and is now available for physical pre-order.
After announcing his new album “Irish Roots” last week, violinist Daniel Hope today releases a first pre-release track from the album. The traditional composition Morning Nightcap gives a first impression of the intersection between folk and classical music, that Hope explores on his album. He is supported by musicologist Olivier Fourés and the Irish band Lúnasa on his discovery of Irish culture.
